 Mark Phillips to Receive ARTS Awards

Academy of Achievement Honor 

January 13, 2017; High Point, NC ~ Phillips Collection (www.phillipscollection.com) is pleased to announce that Dallas Market Center and a nominating committee from ART, the creative home furnishings network, have selected Mark Phillips, founder and president of Phillips Collection, as this year’s ARTS Awards Academy of Achievement honoree.

The Academy of Achievement honoree is selected each year by the ARTS Awards Committee in order to recognize significant contributions to the industry.  The committee serves one year and their duties include a review of the process and selecting the Academy of Achievement honoree.  The 28th ARTS Awards committee are:  Amir Loloi, Loloi; Jason Harris, The Design Network/Furnitureland South; and Russ Jones, Ivystone.  Past Academy of Achievement honorees include Robert Currey, Mac Hoak, and the Cooper family.

The ARTS Awards, presented each January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, recognizes top manufacturers, retailers, product designers, interior designers and sales representatives from around the world in 23 categories as well as special categories such as Academy of Achievement and a special award this year for Legendary Leadership being presented to industry icon Connie Lineberry. The winners and special honorees will be recognized during a gala event on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

ABOUT THE BIENENSTOCK SCHOLARSHIPS
Students from 18 colleges and universities submitted qualifying entries to the Library's 2015 design scholarship competition. All judging was unbiased-with no name or college shown with the submission. A distinguished panel of industry experts juried each competition.
 
The 2015 winners will be awarded their $5,000 scholarships, along with respective one-year student membership in ASFD or ASID, during High Point Market in April. Second place winners each receive a $1500 scholarship and the colleges representing the first place winners each get $1,000 towards their programs.
 
The annual Bienenstock Scholarship competitions are open to any junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college program of furniture design or interior design. Since 1984, the Library has awarded more than $390,000 in scholarships to students in hundreds of colleges and universities.
